Westmoreland welcomes new attending physician and nurse practitioners
Westmoreland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Expands Clinical Care Team
Colonial Beach, Va., Skilled Nursing Facility Welcomes Additional Attending Physician and Three Nurse Practitioners
COLONIAL BEACH, Va., May 20, 2022 — Westmoreland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center has expanded its clinical care team, welcoming Petros Ayele, MD, as its second attending physician, and nurse practitioners Donna Cyrus, MSN, RN; Rachel Ambrose, MSN, RN; and Rebecca Bulman, MSN, RN. The clinical team enhancement coincides with a significant renovation underway at the Colonial Beach skilled nursing facility.
Dr. Ayele, who specializes in internal medicine, has more than 25 years of experience, including extensive work with geriatric patients in skilled nursing settings. He maintains a primary care practice in Alexandria, Va. Dr. Ayele is working closely with Dr. Hasan Farkhani, who joined the Westmoreland team as attending physician in 2005.
“Westmoreland, which has a long history of high occupancy, is pleased to expand its clinical care team,” said Megan Shilling, regional director of market development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “Dr. Ayele is well known in the area for his medical expertise and caring manner; much thanks to Westmoreland’s Nancy Niswander, director of admissions, who introduced him to the team. Dr. Ayele is a wonderful addition to complement the excellent care already being provided by Dr. Farkhani. The facility is also thrilled to expand its nursing team with three highly trained practitioners.”
Cyrus, Ambrose and Bulman all have expertise within skilled nursing settings. Cyrus is a board-certified adult geriatric nurse practitioner and certified dementia practitioner; in addition, she is wound care certified. Ambrose, a board-certified nurse practitioner, also possesses extensive experience in nursing leadership and education. Bulman, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, brings experience in emergency medicine and urgent care to her role at Westmoreland.
Located at 2400 McKinney Blvd., Westmoreland provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care; it is the only licensed nursing facility in Westmoreland County. Westmoreland’s in-progress renovation includes both physical renovations and programming enhancements aimed to meet the healthcare needs of area residents.
Committed to serving as a healthcare resource for area residents, Westmoreland, together with Marquis, established a resource library of physician-curated content, addressing many topics of interest for families of patients and the larger community. The library and more information on the skilled nursing facility can be found at westmorelandrehab.com.
